Living with death is part of the Mexican collective imagination. The Day of the Dead celebration is an indigenous tradition deeply rooted in the country. For many November 1st and 2nd are the most important days of the year as it is believed that the dead return to visit their loved ones. After greeting them in the cemetery at the brink of dawn, families of Atzompa, Oaxaca then go prepare a family dinner which then leads to celebratory activities that oftentimes last until the morning after.
